Configure TRENDnet (Old Indoor) Wireless Network Camera for Cloud Recording, Monitoring and Playback
Note: This document is not designed to replace the product manual from the manufacturer.
The information is provided as is based on our knowledge of the model TRENDnet TV-IP312WN.
It may not be accurate or up-to-date. In general, users shall contact the manufacturer for technical support.
Also note: This model is quite old and is no longer recommended. You can buy newer and better IP cameras.
Turn on the camera; connect the camera with a network router using an Ethernet cable.
From a PC in the same network, insert the camera’s software CD and install the setup program. After it is installed, run the Setup Wizard. You will see the screen like below:
Click “Search” to find the network camera in the same network.
Open a web browser and access the Camera’s configuration page at:
http://192.168.1.123.
(Please replace the IP address with the real IP address found using the Setup program).
To logon, you need to find the default username and password in the camera’s User Manual.
After logon you will see the following screen: (you might be prompted to install an ActiveX or Java, if so, please install it.)
Using the web-based configuration tool, you can set the image resolution. Please see the screenshot below. You need to click on Video / Audio, then click on Video, and select the video resolution for both MPEG4 and MJPEG.
Please make sure it matches your CameraFTP subscription. If you subscribed to the resolution of 320x240, then select QVGA. If you subscribed to 640x480, please select VGA.
For most home users or casual users, 320x240 is ok.
For better image quality, you can choose 640x480 or higher (if your camera supports it). Please note this will increase the bandwidth and storage usage by about 4 times. The CameraFTP subscription cost is also significantly higher.
From the web-based configuration tool, click Network à Wireless, then check the checkbox “Enable”,
click “Site Survey” to find a list of Wireless Networks.
Select your wireless router’s SSID in the list and enter the correct authentication credentials.
Your camera will be connected to your wireless network. Please see the screenshot below.
If you don’t have an account on CameraFTP.com, please visit www.cameraftp.com and sign up a free trial account. CameraFTP.com offers 3-day free trial. After 3 days, you need to order our paid subscription to continue using the service.
Assuming you have an account on CameraFTP.com, then from the camera’s web-based configuration tool, click on Event Server -> FTP, then enter the FTP information. Please see the screenshot below:
For the FTP Server section, please enter the following information:
- FTP service: ftp.cameraftp.com (or IP: 66.220.9.45)
- FTP port: 21
- FTP User / Password:
FTP username is your CameraFTP username, FTP password is available in
Configure IP Cameras page. (Your CameraFTP password may also work).
- FTP Upload Folder: /YourCameraName
Your Camera Name is created on www.CameraFTP.com website when you add a new camera. (See the screenshot below)
Click Apply, and then click Test to see if it works correctly.
If it is successful, congratulations! If not, you will see an error message.
The TRENDnet camera supports both Motion Detect Trigger and Schedule Trigger.
If you choose Motion Detect Trigger, it will only upload images when it detects a motion.
This reduces the bandwidth usage so that the camera will be less likely slowing down your network.
This is recommended.
To enable Motion Detect Trigger, please see the screenshot below. You need to click Event Config à Motion Detect Trigger,
then check the checkbox “Select to enable”, and “FTP Upload”.
You can also choose “Schedule Trigger”. The camera will keep uploading images during the scheduled time interval.
You can choose the default schedule profile “Always”. It uses more storage space and bandwidth.
It may also slow down your Internet connection as the camera will keep uploading images even if there are no detected activities.

You can configure the threshold for motion detection by clicking on “Motion Detect”.
You can then remove the Ethernet cable. If you need to make changes, you can run the setup program again to find the camera’s IP address (as it may change), and then access the camera’s configuration page.
You can visit www.cameraftp.com to monitor or play back your recorded images from anywhere.

Note: This TRENDnet camera (and most other outdoor TRENDnet cameras) cannot upload video clips to FTP server directly. To upload video clips, you can use CameraFTP VSS on a PC. These cameras are compatible with VSS-based Live View, Cloud Recording and Local Recording.
If you use VSS for video recording, it is important to set the correct video frame rate and bit rate in Video Profile Settings.
