If you use a phone/tablet/webcam as an IP security camera by installing CameraFTP Mobile Security Camera or CameraFTP VSS software, then it always support 2-way video and audio viewing / calling. This feature is included in the free service. You can use CameraFTP Viewer app, or log in to www.cameraftp.com to view the live camera, or make a video call.
If you use an IP camera / NVR, then you need to configure it to upload footage to CameraFTP first. For information about configuring an IP camera / NVR, please visit www.cameraftp.com and click Cameras. We have listed quite a few camera brands / models.
Please note proprietary IP cameras / NVRs are locked in with their manufacturer's cloud services. So your IP camera/NVR must be non-proprietary. Such devices support open-standard based protocols (e.g. FTP, SFTP, SMTP, ONVIF, RTSP, etc.). Please make sure you have configured your camera correctly. We have a lot of Setup Guide documents, and tutorial videos. Please visit www.cameraftp.com and click Cameras. Usually it has the following steps:
(1) Connect your camera to the network, find its IP address and access its management interface.
(2) Configure the video / image resolution, video frame rate / image upload frequency;
(3) Configure FTP (or SMTP) account info. The info can be found on www.cameraftp.com website. Usually, you need to add a camera on www.cameraftp.com website first, then click the Settings icon below the camera thumbnail to find the detailed FTP/SMTP info. After you configured the FTP (or SMTP), please test the connection first.
(4) Configure continuous recording or motion-triggered recording based on your service plan.
If the viewer displays "Camera is empty, waiting for new data", then the problem is on the camera side (not a Camera Viewer problem). Please make sure the camera is working, and it is connected to the Internet. If the camera is configured to upload only when a motion is detected, then it is nomal to display "waiting for new data", because the camera has not detected any new motions, and has not uploaded any new data.
